A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies that result path; Bristol Residents Directory does not retain a copy of those searches on its servers. When a visitor writes to us, we receive the content of that message and use it to respond.

Normal hosting logs can include an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We review this information in aggregate to maintain the service and understand page use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where used, advertising measurement.

We use the limited data described above to operate the service, address technical problems, measure aggregate traffic, and improve pages. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.

Links can lead to county and state portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The policy of the destination site controls any information submitted there, including information submitted through sponsored search results supplied by another company.
Public-record privacy is controlled by the applicable custodian and statute, not by this policy. Tennessee Safe at Home, Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 40-38-601 et seq., provides a substitute mailing address to qualified participants and does not erase preexisting records. Voter-registration SSNs require redaction under Tenn. Code Ann. § 2-2-127; online-registration identifiers are confidential under § 2-2-112(c), and citizenship-proof documents are confidential under § 2-2-141(e). Private utility records are confidential under Tenn. Code Ann. § 10-7-504(a)(20).

Public records held by a Tennessee state, county, or city custodian are outside our control; the Tennessee Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 10-7-501 et seq., especially § 10-7-503, governs qualifying requests to those custodians.
